Abita Trace, located approximately 45 miles north of New Orleans in Abita Springs, is a traditional neighborhood development totaling 360 acres. Abita Trace was envisioned as a complete neighborhood with a variety of housing options, two commercial/retail components, and abundant parks and open spaces connected through a system of multiuse trails.
The variety of housing options, ranging from condominiums to townhomes to detached single-family homes, allow opportunities for elderly and first time home buyers.Even more important to the local community, the variety of housing will allow teachers, firemen, and policemen, to be able to live in the community they serve.
While housing types will vary, the local and regionally based architecture styles will be prevalent in all the homes and commercial buildings. Drawing from architecture of nearby Covington and New Orleans, residential and commercial buildings will include vernacular elements, such as large front porches, wood and iron detail work, clapboard siding, and vertically-oriented windows.
