POWER PLANT BUILDING RENOVATION

Rock Hill, South Carolina

TSW CityofRockHillPowerPlanBuilding02 Power Plant Building Renovation TSW

As part of TSW’s planning process for the City of Rock Hill’s Knowledge Park at Old Town Master Plan, TSW’s Architecture Studio developed schematic designs for the renovation of the existing Filter Plant Building, Power Plant Building, and Lowenstein Building on the Bleachery Site.

The Power Plant Building is approximately 16,000 sq. ft. with a dramatic interior of 45 to 65-foot ceiling heights. The building is currently under consideration for listing on the National Register of Historic Places. Challenges of the renovation include significant demolition and interior structures removal costs, probable significant hazardous materials/cleanup costs, groundwater flooding in sub-basement, and window and fenestration repairs and replacements per NRHP standards. TSW developed concept designs for the building’s renovation into a microbrewery that includes brewing areas, storage, dining area and tasting room or stage area and seating.
