Transportation Planner or Engineer

Currently Seeking: Mobility Planner

Atlanta-based TSW (www.tsw-design.com), an award-winning planning, architecture, and landscape architecture firm, is looking for a Mobility Planner in our Atlanta or Chattanooga office.

This position will support a wide range of mobility planning and design efforts, both as part of integrated land use and development projects and as stand-alone transportation initiatives. Work will include contributing to corridor and area planning studies as well as leading and supporting citywide and subarea transportation plans, active transportation and trail plans, transit-oriented development (TOD) plans, safety action plans, Safe Routes to School programs, and street retrofit and complete streets projects. The role involves multimodal analysis, stakeholder engagement, and the development of implementable recommendations that improve safety, connectivity, and overall system performance.

We are seeking candidates at either the entry or mid-level, with responsibilities and expectations tailored to experience. Ideal candidates will bring a strong foundation in multimodal planning, clear communication skills, and a collaborative mindset, with increasing levels of project leadership and technical proficiency expected at the mid-level.

Entry Level (1–3 Years Experience):

  • Bachelor’s degree in planning, landscape architecture, engineering, urban design, or a related field
  • 1–3 years of relevant experience (internships and academic project work considered)
  • Experience supporting mobility or land planning projects through research, analysis, and documentation
  • Clear, concise, and engaging writing skills

  • Interest in and enthusiasm for working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
  • Passion for public engagement and ability to communicate effectively in small group settings
  • Proficiency in ArcGIS Pro, including performing detailed analysis and producing clear, visually engaging maps
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign for document and presentation layout, and Illustrator and Photoshop for map and concept production
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams

Desirable (not required):

  • Experience with AutoCAD, SketchUp, Lumion, or similar tools
  • Experience with AI-based image creation tools such as Adobe Firefly
  • Master’s degree in a related field

Mid-Level (4–7 Years Experience):

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in planning, landscape architecture, engineering, urban design, or a related field
  • 4–7 years of relevant professional experience
  • Experience leading or managing components of mobility or land planning projects (e.g., corridor studies, active transportation plans, safety plans, TOD plans)
  • Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality written deliverables, including reports and client-facing documents
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Strong public engagement skills, including experience presenting to stakeholders, community groups, and at public meetings
  • Advanced proficiency in ArcGIS Pro, including network or spatial analysis and production of high-quality, publication-ready maps
  • Strong experience with Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign (document production) and Illustrator and Photoshop (maps, diagrams, and concept graphics)
  • Proven ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and contribute to integrated planning and design solutions

Desirable (not required):

  • AICP certification
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, SketchUp, Lumion, or similar visualization/modeling tools
  • Experience with AI-based image generation tools such as Adobe Firefly
  • Master’s degree in a related field
