Position Overview

TSW is seeking a talented Mobility Practice Leader with a passion for creating connected and accessible communities at a variety of scales and across a range of project types. The ideal candidate will bring a creative, context-sensitive approach to mobility, balancing transportation planning and design with land use, urban design, placemaking, and community vision.

This position offers the opportunity to shape and grow TSW’s mobility practice, including its strategic direction, services, project portfolio, and team. The position will be based in our Atlanta, GA office while supporting the growth of mobility work across our regional offices in Tulsa, OK; Lexington, KY; and Chattanooga, TN.

Your Role

As the Mobility Practice Leader, you will help define the future of TSW’s mobility practice, identifying new opportunities, building client relationships, expanding our capabilities, and developing a team to support its continued growth. You will lead innovative, people-centered transportation planning and design for projects such as multimodal transportation plans, corridor studies, safe, complete streets, streetscapes, bicycle and pedestrian networks, SS4A projects, and community planning projects.

You will also work closely with TSW’s planning, urban design, and landscape architecture teams to develop creative mobility solutions that respond to the land use vision, development pattern, and context.

Responsibilities

You will be responsible for

  • Leading and maintaining the company-wide Mobility Practice Area
  • Pursuing work in the Mobility Practice Areas.
  • Mentoring Mobility Practice Area staff and other staff across the company’s four offices.
  • Collaborating with company principal group and other studio leaders on staff utilization and business development

Qualifications

  • At least 7 years of experience in mobility, transportation planning, engineering, or a related field.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in planning, engineering, urban design, or a related field. Relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of an advanced degree.
  • Ability to communicate ideas and concepts verbally, graphically, and in writing.
  • Strong understanding of the relationship between transportation, land use, urban design, development patterns, and community character.
  • Knowledge of transportation planning and design principles, including multimodal planning, complete streets, bicycle and pedestrian facilities, and context-sensitive transportation solutions.
  • Established network of clients and professional contacts, with a history of strong client relationships and successful project delivery.
  • Business development experience, including identifying opportunities, developing scopes and fees, writing proposals, participating in interviews, and securing new work.
  • Demonstrated experience leading, supervising, and mentoring planners, designers, engineers, and other professionals.
  • Strong portfolio of relevant work and excellent professional references.
  • Critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills, with the ability to integrate mobility facilities with planning, urban design, and landscape architecture projects.
  • Proven ability to build or grow a successful mobility, transportation, or related practice within an interdisciplinary environment.
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and coordinating work across multiple offices or geographies.
  • Experience managing large-scale and complex projects.
