BALL GROUND CHARRETTE

Ball Ground, Georgia
The Ball Ground Charrette, an intensive 5-day planning and design event, was organized with the mission to create a comprehensive master plan and architecture code for the City of Ball Ground, Georgia. The goal of the charrette was to address the well-being of residents, promote economic development, support the restoration and reconstruction of the town center, protect green space, preserve the individual identity of the town, and establish Ball Ground as a leading green street town in the metropolitan Atlanta area.

TSW was selected to lead the charrette, which involved interactive community sessions, concept development, pin-up discussions, and a final presentation. To inform the planning process, the charrette team conducted a thorough study of the town’s history, demographics, architectural heritage, and photographic inventory.

The design methodology adopted for the charrette incorporated a range of planning information, including local building traditions, required building programs, and green construction methods. The charrette results included varying building typologies for residential, commercial, and civic buildings, as well as a master plan that highlighted land uses and redevelopment opportunities in the town center area.

The Ball Ground Charrette was a significant event in the history of the City of Ball Ground, as it laid the foundation for the development of a comprehensive and sustainable master plan and architecture code. The charrette’s results were well-received by the community, who appreciated the focus on preserving the town’s history and identity, promoting economic development, and protecting green space. The charrette also provided a roadmap for the future development of Ball Ground and positioned the town as a leader in sustainable and livable communities in the metropolitan Atlanta area.

In conclusion, the Ball Ground Charrette was a successful planning and design event that achieved its mission of developing a comprehensive master plan and architecture code for the City of Ball Ground. The charrette’s results were well-received by the community and will serve as a roadmap for future development in the city. The success of the charrette is a testament to TSW’s expertise and commitment to creating sustainable and livable communities.
