Client: Hedgewood Properties
Location: Woodstock, Georgia
The Woodstock Downtown development, located in the heart of Woodstock, Georgia, is a mixed-use community that contains several community parks and open spaces. TSW, as part of the master planning effort, created plans for each of the parks to ensure that they would be well-designed and functional spaces for the community to enjoy.
One of the main civic spaces in the development is the Woodstock Downtown Plaza. This space provides outdoor seating and dining for residents and visitors, and is designed to be a hub of activity and social interaction. The Plaza is a central gathering spot that encourages people to come together, relax and enjoy the community.
Another important park in the development is Dial Park. This mostly wooded linear park is centrally located in the development, and contains an outdoor theater and restroom, a basketball half-court, passive lawns areas, water features, playground, and fire pit. The park is designed to be a place where people can gather, play, and enjoy the natural surroundings.
In addition to these main parks, the development also includes several pocket parks throughout the community. These small parks are designed to provide green spaces for residents to enjoy in their own neighborhoods. They include features such as playgrounds, seating areas, and walking paths.
TSW also completed streetscape and trail design for the development. The streetscape design includes sidewalks, streetlights, and landscaping, which are all designed to create a cohesive and inviting environment for residents and visitors. The trail design includes a network of walking and biking trails that connect the various parks and open spaces within the development.
Overall, the Woodstock Downtown development is a well-designed and functional community with a variety of parks and open spaces for residents to enjoy. TSW’s master planning effort was successful in creating a cohesive and inviting environment that encourages community interaction and a sense of place. The development’s parks and open spaces, as well as its streetscape and trail design, are all designed to enhance the community’s quality of life and create a sense of community pride.
