LONZA RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT LABORATORY CONSOLIDATION - PHASE I

TSW, a full-service design and construction firm, recently completed a comprehensive renovation project for Lonza’s Water & Biocide Division. The project involved the design and construction of a suite of eight laboratories and office space, spanning a total of 27,164 square feet.

The laboratory spaces included a hazardous large volume chemical wet lab area, an analytical lab, a formulations lab, two oxidizer labs, and three microbiology labs. These spaces were designed to support the specific research and development needs of Lonza’s Water & Biocide Division, and were outfitted with the latest technology and equipment.

To ensure the success of the project, TSW provided a wide range of design and construction services. These included complete design, construction documents, and construction administration, as well as refinement of facility programming. TSW also worked closely with lab managers and scientists to coordinate the location of new and relocated lab equipment, ensuring proper power supplies and ventilation.

Additional design tasks included the design of additional casement work, additional spot ventilation, additional fume hoods, new rated walls or wall upgrades for high hazard areas, and new lighting fixtures. All of these design elements were integrated to create a functional and efficient laboratory environment that meets the needs of Lonza’s Water & Biocide Division.

The finished facility is a state-of-the-art laboratory space that will enable Lonza’s Water & Biocide Division to continue their important research and development efforts. TSW’s commitment to quality and attention to detail has resulted in a facility that is not only functional and efficient but also visually pleasing, providing an ideal working environment for the scientists and researchers who will use it.
