Description:

The new Town Green in Powder Springs features a striking amphitheater building that stands as a transformative civic project located in the heart of the historic downtown. This significant development is rooted in previous planning efforts, including the Livable Centers Initiative (LCI) study and comprehensive planning work led by TSW. As the project moved forward, the design team conducted an additional round of public input to gather feedback specifically focused on both the park design and the new Powder Springs Amphitheater Building.

The result of this collaborative process is a contemporary, multi-purpose amphitheater structure that includes an outdoor performance stage, restrooms, performer green room, and storage space. The City of Powder Springs expressed a desire for a building that would feature a distinctive roofline and contemporary architectural language, providing a deliberate contrast to the traditional red brick architecture that characterizes much of the surrounding downtown. The final design features sleek grey brick, exposed steel columns and beams, and warm cumaru wood finishes applied to both the underside of the dramatic roof overhang and the stage surface.

The amphitheater building design was developed in tandem with the overall park plan, ensuring that circulation patterns, event programming, materials, and landscape elements worked in harmony. The park itself, with its vibrant greenery, open lawns, and inviting landscaping, serves as a welcoming setting for performances, festivals, and informal gatherings. The new amphitheater complements the existing architectural character of downtown while also introducing a bold and modern visual landmark.

The Powder Springs Town Green Amphitheater Building is poised to become a central attraction for residents and visitors alike, offering a dedicated space for concerts, cultural events, and community gatherings for years to come—fostering civic pride and further activating the heart of the city.
