As part of the 4,000-acre RiverTown mixed-use development, TSW master planned a network of community parks and open spaces to provide a variety of recreational opportunities for residents and visitors of all ages and abilities. The park and open space network consists of conservation areas, regional parks, swim and tennis centers, and neighborhood pocket parks. All of these parks and open spaces are connected through a pedestrian-friendly multi-use trail and streetscape system that allows easy access for residents and visitors of all ages and abilities.
The design of the parks and open spaces takes into consideration the natural environment and aims to preserve and enhance the natural beauty of the area. The parks and open spaces are designed to promote healthy and active lifestyles, and offer a wide range of recreational activities such as hiking, biking, swimming, tennis, and more. The parks and open spaces also include areas for relaxation and picnicking, making it an ideal spot for families and friends to spend time together.
TSW also designed and specified different types of crossings to ensure easy and safe access to the parks and open spaces. These include wetland crossings, wooden bridges, boardwalks, false bridges, and more. The different types of crossings were chosen to blend seamlessly with the natural environment and to minimize the impact on the surrounding landscape.
In addition to the park and open space design, TSW also designed and specified different surface materials for the Rivertown Multi-Use Trail Network. This includes a variety of hard surfaces such as asphalt with a metal edge, textured concrete, and brick pavers, as well as soft surfaces such as crushed stone and mulch. These different surface materials were chosen to provide a safe and durable walking surface, while also being in harmony with the natural environment.
Overall, the RiverTown mixed-use development, as master planned by TSW, provides residents and visitors with a wide range of recreational opportunities and a pedestrian-friendly environment that encourages active and healthy lifestyles. The parks and open spaces are designed to be enjoyed by people of all ages and abilities, while also preserving and enhancing the natural beauty of the area.
