WADE GREEN ROAD

Cherokee County, Georgia
The Wade Green Road project is a 38-acre traditional neighborhood development (TND) located in southern Cherokee County. The site falls in an area that was recently studied during the 2005 Bells Ferry Livable Centers Initiative project, and it is one of the first developments in the region to be planned according to TND principles in Cherokee County. The TND code promotes a walkable, mixed-use, and sustainable development that is designed to create a sense of community and to provide a range of housing and commercial options.

The neighborhood includes 250 housing units distributed between two transect zones (T4 and T5). These transect zones include a diverse mix of housing and commercial uses, such as live-work units, townhomes, and single-family dwellings. This mix of uses will help to create a sense of community and will provide opportunities for residents to live, work, and shop in close proximity to each other. The design of the neighborhood also promotes walkability, providing safe and convenient access for pedestrians, bicyclists, and vehicles.

The units are connected through an efficient network of streets, alleys, and lanes that provide internal circulation while also providing the opportunity for future street connections as adjacent lots are redeveloped. The street network is designed to promote walkability and to provide safe and convenient access for pedestrians, bicyclists, and vehicles. The project represents one of the first developments in the region planned according to TND principles in Cherokee County, and it aligns with the county’s TND code which is focused on creating a sense of community and providing a range of housing and commercial options.
