Cornerstone on the Square Receives Atlanta Regional Commission Award

Cornerstone on the Square, a mixed-use development located in downtown Lawrenceville, Georgia, was recently recognized with the LCI Achievement Award at the Atlanta Regional Commission’s annual State of the Region Breakfast. The award was part of the Developments of Excellence program, which recognizes innovative and sustainable development projects that support the principles of the Livable Centers Initiative (LCI).

Cornerstone on the Square, which sits on a 1.75-acre site that was previously abandoned, consists of 33 townhomes and condominiums and 9,000 square feet of retail space. The development’s proximity to government services, dining, shopping, and entertainment makes it an ideal example of the LCI program’s spirit, which seeks to create walkable, mixed-use communities that promote sustainability, economic development, and quality of life.

The development is a key component of Lawrenceville’s Downtown Master Plan, which aims to revitalize the city’s historic downtown area. To achieve this goal, Cornerstone on the Square incorporates more than 800 linear feet of tight-to-the-sidewalk brick buildings that blend seamlessly with the existing downtown facade. The development also includes four courtyard homes in its interior, an innovative feature that is often overlooked in traditional townhome communities.

Cornerstone on the Square’s recognition with the LCI Achievement Award is a testament to its success in promoting sustainable, community-focused development in Lawrenceville. The development’s mix of residential and commercial space, its commitment to walkability and accessibility, and its seamless integration with the existing downtown area make it a model for future development projects in the region.
