New TSW-Designed Gwinnett-Snellville Library & Business Building is one for the Books!

The beautiful new Gwinnett-Snellville Library and Business Building was thoughtfully designed by TSW to serve as a prominent anchor within the ambitious $100 million Grove at Towne Center development. This transformative project was commissioned collaboratively by Gwinnett County and the City of Snellville, Georgia, reflecting a shared commitment to creating a vibrant new civic and commercial hub. Scheduled to open its doors in late 2023, the two-story building is strategically located at 2286 Oak Road in Snellville, positioning it at the heart of the city’s evolving downtown landscape.
The building is thoughtfully programmed to meet multiple community needs. The first floor houses a branch of the Gwinnett County Public Library, providing residents with a welcoming and modern space for learning, literacy, and connection. The second floor features flexible co-working and event spaces, designed to support local entrepreneurs, small businesses, and community gatherings. This blend of uses reinforces the building’s role as a dynamic civic anchor, supporting both educational and economic development objectives.
Architecturally, the building pays homage to the area’s heritage through its carefully considered design elements. The façade incorporates local natural granite stone, which was meticulously hand-chiseled by skilled local craftsmen. This choice creates a strong visual and material connection to the historic granite buildings that define the original downtown district just south of the new city center. The use of these authentic materials helps to root the building in the community’s identity while contributing to a timeless, high-quality aesthetic.
In keeping with contemporary standards for sustainability, the project is actively pursuing LEED certification, demonstrating a commitment to environmentally responsible design and construction practices. The Gwinnett-Snellville Library and Business Building stands as a model for thoughtful, community-centered development that honors both past and future.
