Description:
TSW was retained by Cherokee County to lead the design of the new 52-acre Southwest Park—an ambitious community investment that will include a Recreation & Senior Center as well as a diverse mix of active and passive park amenities. In Phase 1, the TSW Architecture Studio developed detailed design development documents for the park elements and provided a conceptual architectural design for the two-story Recreation & Senior Center. The building is envisioned as a vibrant hub of intergenerational activity and wellness, featuring a full-sized double basketball court with an elevated running track, a dedicated senior center, multipurpose classrooms, a fitness center, a banquet hall, and a shared catering kitchen—alongside a central office suite to support staff and operations.
To help Cherokee County visualize the architectural identity of the project, TSW delivered multiple aesthetic iterations of the building’s exterior, supported by high-quality renderings and a comprehensive programming package. The firm worked closely with County stakeholders to ensure that the design reflects both community needs and long-term operational goals. Looking ahead, Phase 2 of the project—pending municipal funding—will advance the building into full design development and construction documentation, setting the stage for this important facility to become a cornerstone of public life in Southwest Cherokee County.
