Description:

TSW provided comprehensive landscape architectural design services for the Bainbridge Element Hotel, creating a dynamic and multifunctional outdoor environment that enhances the overall guest experience while seamlessly tying into the broader downtown improvement efforts underway in Bainbridge. Envisioned as the city’s largest hotel, the project not only provides modern accommodations but also prioritizes connectivity to the surrounding community, with thoughtfully designed pedestrian links to Chason Park and the scenic riverfront trail system along the Flint River. These connections encourage guests and residents alike to engage more fully with downtown Bainbridge’s cultural, recreational, and natural assets.

The outdoor program includes a resort-style pool deck designed for relaxation and social interaction, along with a 6,800-square-foot event lawn capable of accommodating weddings, festivals, and community gatherings. The open lawn and surrounding terraces were planned to function as flexible spaces, ensuring they remain active and inviting throughout the year. TSW’s scope of work extended from schematic design through permitting, supported by detailed 3D renderings that helped stakeholders visualize the final product. Design considerations included careful attention to stormwater management strategies, creative lighting solutions that enhance safety and ambiance, and a strong focus on overall user comfort and accessibility.

Serving as the final component of a broader initiative spearheaded by the Downtown Development Authority, the hotel represents a significant milestone in Bainbridge’s downtown revitalization strategy. It builds upon the recent expansion of Chason Park and enhances the growing network of trails and greenspaces that reconnect the city center with the Flint River. Once complete, the Bainbridge Element Hotel is anticipated to act as a true catalyst for economic growth—attracting visitors, drawing locals back downtown, creating jobs, and reinforcing Bainbridge’s identity as a vibrant regional destination.
