Description:
TSW was hired by the Mountain Regional Library System and Fannin County to design a new community library in Blue Ridge, Georgia. The goal was to create a modern, functional, and welcoming facility that would serve as a cultural and educational hub for the region. Drawing from its experience with previous library projects, TSW approached the design with a deep understanding of library workflow, community needs, and cost-effective strategies.
Early in the process, TSW led a series of stakeholder interviews to better understand the community’s vision and expectations for the new facility. These discussions, paired with site feasibility studies and cost comparisons, allowed the design team to make informed decisions that kept the project on budget while maximizing programmatic value. The result is a contextual, thoughtfully scaled building that reflects both the identity of Fannin County and the needs of its residents.
TSW facilitated a comprehensive design process, which included programming workshops, budget-conscious design iterations, and detailed conceptual renderings to support stakeholder buy-in and approval. The finalized program includes five distinct stack areas to serve different age groups and content types, multiple meeting rooms, a large community room for events and public use, private offices for staff, and a variety of flexible communal gathering areas.
Construction documents were completed in early 2025, and TSW is currently providing construction administration services to ensure design integrity is maintained throughout the build process. The library is expected to open its doors to the public by September 2025.
When completed, the Fannin County Public Library will stand as a vibrant, multi-functional community resource that supports learning, connection, and cultural enrichment—serving the residents of Blue Ridge and surrounding areas for generations to come.
