TSW is providing planning and architectural, and landscape architectural design services for a 32-unit village of cottages and custom lakeside homes on the rugged eight-acre lakeside site of a former motel, overlooking the spectacularly beautiful Lake Santeetlah. The goal of this project is to create a community that optimizes views and access to the lake for all residents while fostering a strong sense of neighborhood.
The community will feature a rich array of amenities that cater to the diverse needs of residents. These amenities include a lakeside pavilion and canoe club, which will provide residents with a variety of recreational activities, such as swimming, fishing, and boating. Additionally, there will be a community dock for all non-lakefront owners, which will allow residents to access the lake even if they don’t have their own waterfront property.
A series of mountain waterfalls will be added to the site, providing residents with a natural and serene environment to enjoy. The community gardens will also be an important feature of the project, providing residents with an opportunity to grow their own fruits and vegetables, as well as a place to meet and interact with their neighbors.
TSW has also created strong design guidelines for the project, which encourage diverse interpretations of ‘rustic mountain lake’ architecture. The guidelines underscore a consistent vocabulary of materials, such as wood and stone, to create a cohesive and harmonious environment throughout the community. The design guidelines also ensure that the architecture of the community is in keeping with the natural beauty of the surrounding area.
