TSW’s Landscape Architecture Studio was retained by American Capital Partners to provide planning and design for a signature urban plaza space and streetscape project in downtown Atlanta. This project aims to create a key entrance element and outdoor gathering space for 100 Peachtree Plaza (Equitable building), including an outdoor seating café space, granite paving, and signage. The goal of the project is to create an inviting and functional space that can support events and gatherings while also providing an aesthetic appeal for the building and the surrounding area.
One of the key challenges that TSW faced during the design phase of the project was designing around the MARTA ventilation system that is found on the site. This required TSW to hold design review meetings with MARTA to discuss aesthetic modifications and the approval process. TSW was able to work closely with MARTA to ensure that the design met the necessary safety and functionality requirements while also creating an aesthetically pleasing space.
TSW’s responsibilities on the 100 Peachtree Plaza Project include developing schematic design through construction documentation, which includes site plans, construction details, utility plans, erosion and sediment control plans, site lighting plans and details, and cost estimates. The team also performed extensive pre-construction services, such as site analysis, conceptual design, and permitting assistance. The project is currently under construction and the team continues to support the project by providing construction administration services.
The finished plaza space will supply a valuable amenity for the building’s tenants and visitors, as well as for the surrounding community. The design includes a variety of features that will make the space welcoming and comfortable for visitors, such as seating areas, shade structures, and landscaping. Additionally, the use of high-quality materials such as granite pavers and lighting fixtures will contribute to the overall aesthetic appeal of the space.
