Description:

The Legacy Wellness Center transformed a vacant former bank building—originally constructed as a historic synagogue—into a 14,000-square-foot multi-tenant healthcare and community resource hub in Albany, Georgia. Developed by the Harlem Renaissance Corporation, an affiliate of Mt. Zion of Albany, the project reflects a significant investment in community-based healthcare, bringing dental, behavioral health, primary care, research, and educational services together under one roof. By adaptively reusing a building with deep civic and cultural roots, the project preserved neighborhood character while creating a modern, accessible destination for wellness, learning, and community engagement.

Serving as Architect of Record, TSW led the architectural design and technical coordination of the transformation, reconfiguring the former commercial interior into flexible medical, research, office, and community spaces. TSW coordinated architecture, landscape architecture, MEP engineering, interiors, signage, branding, and tenant improvements while navigating historic review requirements and complex building code considerations. The resulting facility provides a welcoming, culturally grounded environment that supports both healthcare delivery and community connection, helping carry the owner’s vision from concept through occupancy.
