Broad Street Jonesboro GA

The Broad Street project is a visionary undertaking that seamlessly blends historic preservation with modern development. It encompasses the renovation of an existing building, new construction, and the creation of lush green spaces, all aimed at revitalizing Jonesboro and fulfilling its long-term vision. The project is part of the Downtown Core plan, outlined in the Jonesboro LCI, with the goal of enhancing the connection between Lee Street Park and Main Street through the introduction of new infill development. This “connective tissue” will strengthen the bond between the downtown district and the park, fostering a sense of community and enriching the overall urban fabric of Jonesboro.

TSW was retained by the City of Jonesboro to re-purpose the old Fire Station building, and renovate the surrounding parking lots and streets. The proposed design retrofits the firehouse into a restaurant and brewery with an addition of a coffee shop/gathering space that has been connected to the firehouse. The vision for Broad Street, which runs through the site, will take the currently used parking alley, and reduce the paved area, add street trees and sidewalks as well as crosswalks for pedestrian safety.

The pavilion will overlook a central green which will be able to accommodate community events and help reinvigorate the downtown area at all times of the day. While not in use for a show, the pavilion and green are intended to provide a safe quiet place for people to gather, meet with friends, play and drink coffee. Across the green from the pavilion will be the covered porch that was added during the renovation of the Firehouse to provide a space for outdoor dining, with the chance of catching a show.
