Description:

TSW was retained by the City of Stockbridge to develop the Stockbridge Park System Plan, a comprehensive review and improvement strategy for the city's park and trail network. This study encompassed several of the community's most valued outdoor spaces, including Clark Community Park, Gardner Park, Memorial Park, Unity Monument Park, Municipal Park, the Stockbridge Amphitheater, and the Reeves Creek Trail. The project involved an in-depth access and demographic analysis to better understand how residents currently use these amenities and where gaps or opportunities exist. Building on this foundation, the team developed a parks and recreation vision to guide the City over the next decade. This vision was supported by conceptual park designs for each location, illustrating potential enhancements to improve accessibility, usability, and the overall visitor experience.

An important element of the Stockbridge Park System Plan was the creation of an operations and maintenance framework to ensure recommendations could be realistically implemented within a 10-year horizon. This framework considered existing staff capacity, operational efficiencies, and anticipated budget and funding opportunities, ensuring that improvements would be both ambitious and achievable.

Public engagement was central to the success of the project. TSW worked closely with the community throughout every stage of the planning process, recognizing that residents and park users are the most valuable sources of insight. The engagement strategy was intentionally broad and inclusive, incorporating a project steering committee, targeted stakeholder interviews, and a dedicated project website to share updates and collect feedback. Community-wide input was gathered through public meetings, pop-up events at local destinations, and a statistically valid survey to capture the perspectives of a representative cross-section of the population. This combination of technical analysis, visionary design, and robust public input ensured that the final plan reflects the aspirations of the Stockbridge community while providing a practical roadmap for the future.
