The City of Perry has recently completed the design of a new park that features an exciting array of amenities and attractions. The park is located in a picturesque setting and has been designed to offer something for everyone, making it a hub for recreational activities and events. The main feature of the park is a large, open lawn that can accommodate multi-use fields and is surrounded by a ½-mile loop that serves as a recreational trail.
At the south end of the site, there is a fenced-in dog park, which provides a secure and enjoyable space for dogs to run and play. The dog park has been designed with both small and large dogs in mind, and features separate areas for each size of dog. The recreation trail at the park takes visitors from the dog park, past the grass lawn that serves as parking for the outdoor amphitheater.
The amphitheater is a highlight of the park and is designed to host a variety of concerts and events. The amphitheater features sloped lawn seating, built-in slope seating, a restroom building, a sound stage, a concert stage with shade sail, a green room, and VIP towers. Efforts have been made to optimize the sun angles and take into account the existing topography of the site, minimizing the need for excessive excavation.
The park serves as a symbol of reverence and remembrance, paying tribute to the brave veterans and beloved citizens of Perry. It features two polished granite memorial walls, engraved with the names of those who have served and those who have made a lasting impact on the community. Visitors can sit and reflect by the tranquil fountain, surrounded by lush greenery and a serene atmosphere. Additionally, a remnant of the old granite retaining wall has been preserved and restored, providing a shaded plaza and seating area for those who wish to relax and soak in the peaceful surroundings. The park is located near the site of a soon-to-be renovated gas station, adding to its charm and convenience.
