TSW completes University of South Carolina Beaufort Master Plan

Tunnell-Spangler-Walsh & Associates (TSW) was tasked with developing a master plan for the University of South Carolina Beaufort (USCB) to help the university accommodate its growing student population over the next decade. USCB is a rapidly growing institution that required a detailed space analysis for its two campuses: the historic Beaufort campus and the Hilton Head Gateway campus. TSW’s study aimed to identify key facilities required to support the university’s growth.

TSW conducted a thorough space analysis of the existing facilities at both campuses and made 10-year projections for student growth. Based on these projections, the team recommended several new academic buildings to be constructed on both campuses to accommodate the growing student population. In addition, TSW proposed the construction of residence halls on the historic campus to contribute to the vibrant atmosphere of the downtown area.

One of the key recommendations in the master plan was the construction of a new Convocation Center on the new campus. This facility would not only serve the university but also the surrounding community. TSW worked closely with the university to ensure that the new facilities would meet the needs of the students, faculty, and staff, as well as the community.

The master plan was designed to be flexible, allowing for adjustments to be made as the university continues to grow and evolve. The plan also incorporated sustainable design principles to minimize the environmental impact of the new facilities.

Overall, TSW’s master plan for the University of South Carolina Beaufort was aimed at ensuring that the university could accommodate its growing student population while continuing to provide a high-quality education to its students. The plan emphasized the importance of creating facilities that were not only functional but also contributed to the vibrant and welcoming atmosphere of the university and surrounding community.
